Cognitive Science

Cognitive Science is a unique sub-discipline of psychology that emerged mid-20th century and has revolutionized the way we look at the mind. It is intensely interdisciplinary, drawing on everything from computer science to linguistics to neurobiology. The fundamental idea of cognitive science is that the mind is a sort of information processor. It rejects the idea that the mind is some mystical entity incapable of being understood. It originally took the digital computer as an inspiration for the understanding of the mind, but has since developed more nuanced models of mental phenomena.
